Catholic Song Writer Mary Donahue to hold Concerts For Nuns
Minneapolis, Minnesota (January 5, 2006)
Singer and song writer Mary Donahue (www.marydonahue.com)
, who has spent her adult life creating lyrics and music that teach
the truths of the Gospel as the Catholic Church teaches it, is now
announcing a tour to help build a retreat center for Catholic Nuns
called St. Francis Lodge(www.stfrancislodge.org).
Mary is hoping that
Catholics will participate in sending a message to current and
future generations that "We need to help the Nuns preach the Gospel
by providing a place of peace and prayer where they can go to
recharge their souls. St. Francis Lodge is a place where that can
happen."
St. Francis Lodge was founded by Sal and Beth Di Leo in 1999.
51-year-old Sal Di Leo, who was raised by the Franciscan Sisters in
an orphanage in Joliet, Illinois, back in the 1960's, explains. "My
life is an incredible example of what the love of those Nuns can do
for someone. My life has turned out great. I am indebted to the Nuns
and I just wish to give back."
Mary Donahue is asking Catholic Churches to sponsor a St. Francis
Lodge "Hot Dog Feed and Concert" to help raise funds for this
wonderful project. Just call Mary Donahue at 763.783.0013 to see if
your parish can host a "Concert For The Nuns."
Currently, the Margaret Manley Memorial Chapel at St. Francis Lodge
is being built and we are still in need of $50,000 more to comlpete
the project (see
www.salsbook.com/lodge_chapel.htm for construction pictures).
